Ian Smith, Director, Business Leader, Growth & Change Manager Ian is the Manager Business Strategy & Growth for The Building Intelligence Group (TBIG), an independent specialist Project Management company with a 25 year heritage of working in partnership with clients to deliver certainty of outcomes. Ian was previously the South Island Business Manager for 8 years until April 2023, responsible for managing the business and growing TBIG's presence in the South Island which now includes offices in Christchurch, Dunedin, Queenstown & Invercargill.Prior to joining TBIG, for the previous 20 years, Ian has been a key influencer and core member of the leadership team at Arrow International as a Business Leader & Director. For 14 years Ian has had full responsibility for successfully leading 3 different businesses including the establishment of the Arrow business in Sydney, Australia, the Otago/Southland operation and latterly the Christchurch business. For 3 years Ian held 2 different Director responsibilities, initially Director Christchurch in response to rapid changes in the business as it responded to the challenges and opportunities thrown up by the Christchurch Earthquakes. More recently Ian was the Director for Strategy & Growth, focusing on the strategies required for the business to successfully secure and deliver a significant part of the Canterbury rebuild. An active mentor within the business, Ian has a passion for leadership, success and taking on challenging projects on behalf of clients. Ian's core skills include business leadership at both a strategic and operational level. Leadership of change and growth as businesses respond to challenges and opportunities thrown up by changing market conditions. At a project level, liaising with clients - providing strategic management throughout the planning and phasing of projects for successful completion and advising clients on how to best manage the risk on projects to achieve optimal outcomes. Ian builds strong working teams on projects, motivating them to remain focused on achieving the clients’ goals.
