I am currently a paraeducator in a high school extensive II program, but was a teacher in an extensive support classroom in the 2022-2023 school year. My job is to serve the needs of a diverse population of students. Communication is the cornerstone of my job as there is written and verbal communication with students, parents, other staff, and administrators.Moving to from a teaching position means that I am part of a team where my ideas supplement and support the rest of the team. I support my students needs by following the lessons set by the classroom teacher, and I have been fortunate to be able to give input to the classroom teacher as a both a paraeducator and as a certificated teacher.Prior to this I worked as a paraeducator in an extensive program for 6 years, substituted as an emergency substitute teacher tin 2021-2022, and prior to being an extensive paraeducator, was a substitute paraeducator for 2 yeas. I received my Washington State Paraeducator certification in June of 2020, with a special education endorsement. Prior to that I was a community volunteer in a program working with adults on learning the necessary skills to read proficiently.
