Ian Warrender; Senior Technical Advisor with Colleges and Institutes Canada; Young Africa Works-Kenya project. An electrician by trade, I also have an Electronics Engineering Technologist Diploma in Instrumentation BCIT), a BC Provincial Instructor Diploma, and a Master’s Degree in Education (Simon Fraser University). I have been working with CICan since April 2020 on the MasterCard Foundation-funded Young Africa Works-Kenya project. Prior to CICan was with Camosun International since 2010 on Education for Employment projects supported through CICan (Colleges and Institutes Canada) and Global Affairs Canada in Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, and Egypt. As TVET Specialist, my duties in these projects include Skills Gap Analysis, development of market-relevant training courses, CBET curriculum design and development, institutional capacity-building, labour market/socio-economic research, development and strengthening of industry/stakeholder liaisons, technical training on new equipment and the monitoring and evaluation of TVET-based programs.
