With the successful sale of the Stage Systems business, I left Havelock in April 2019 and decided (for the first time in my working life), to take some time to do some of the things that I want to do, complete some personal development training, to help my wife in her own successful business, and do some voluntary work, before taking up a new career, which I decided would be in heritage.I had been heavily involved in Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust for almost 7 years as an unpaid volunteer (my wife is a trustee and past chair of the trust), and so in this year, I carried out various projects for the trust, as the castle had been purchased from the church commissioners and then restored and preserved. From a personal development perspective, I qualified in 6 specific elements of health & safety and also with an IOSH Managing Safely certificate. Alongside these I have achieved the Food hygiene level 2 and allergens qualifications (as part of my voluntary project management work with HCPT - opening a new Cafe). In heritage, I attended (and have certificates for); approaching building repairs on historic buildings (SPAB), an NVQ L3 course in repair and maintenance of historic buildings pre 1919, and specialist courses in lime mortars, historic metalwork and timber decay and mould..I have also joined the SPAB as a member (Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings) and am now a full member of the Association of Project Management.
