Ian spent nearly 20 years with Ernst & Young in London. Ian was a Senior Partner in Ernst & Young’s Transaction Advisory Services team and he specialised in providing M&A and corporate finance transaction services (buy side and sell side) to large corporate, private equity and infrastructure fund clients. Ian was a trusted business advisor to clients at Board level, maintaining professional standards and confidentiality and building long-term relationships. Ian was the UK Head of Ernst & Young’s Transaction Advisory Services team for the Energy and Infrastructure sector (circa 125 professionals), where he has over 30 years experience; Ian was a member of the Transaction Support Senior Leadership Team, responsible for managing the overall Transaction Support business for Ernst & Young. Ian built and managed relationships with some of Ernst & Young’s most prestigious global blue chip clients including BP, RWE, National Grid, Centrica, Severn Trent, Mitsui, BHP Billiton, SSE, Sumitomo Corporation and EDF as well as private equity and infrastructure fund investors including Antin, Brookfield, Hg Capital, Cheung Kong Infrastructure, EQT Partners, Riverstone, Infracapital, Foresight Group, Goldman Sachs Infrastructure Fund and JP Morgan Infrastructure Fund.Ian’s key responsibilities included leading, planning and executing over 250 large, cross border M&A transactions and he was responsible for leading financial due diligence.Ian is a Chartered Accountant (FCA, qualified in 1983) and has worked in the UK, Canada, the US, South Africa and across Europe.
