I enjoy building software and using scientific computing to solve big problems, especially those whose solutions involve simulation and optimization. My specialty is photonics, but I am excited about applying novel simulation techniques to any problem space (physics, or otherwise). I am currently the technical lead on an undisclosed project at Google X that is building fabrication-aware inverse design technology for photonic integrated circuits. I wear multiple hats for the project as a lead and as a technical contributor. I am responsible for leading research and development, contributing to engineering and feature development for the tech stack, and representing the project to stakeholders and executive leadership.Prior to joining Google X, I was a postdoc at Stanford University. There, I worked on research in photonic inverse design and developed photonic hardware for machine learning.
