- With the assistance of a senior developer, began greenfield development of an “Expense Tracker” web and mobile application for request, authorization and tracking of purchase orders- Project was built using React.js, Node.js, Express.js and an MS SQL backend- Interacted with colleagues with varying responsibilities and areas of expertise in a company with a flat management style for guidance and input on developing a fully functional application- Aided in QA and troubleshooting of “Tray App”, discovering and documenting bugs relating to duplication and loss of data and improvement of user interaction

- Developed web and mobile applications using: JavaScript, jQuery, Ember.js, SQL, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS, Git- Over the course of 3 months, developed weekly applications to learn the details of coding multiple functionalities into a web frontend and SQL backend- Worked with RESTful services, security/bcrypt encryption, handling the initiation and teardown of user sessions, behavior driven development and various debugging and unit testing tools- Produced as a final project a Ruby on Rails application similar to Kickstarter in which sponsors grant tuition loans to individuals with plans to attend code schools with payment processing for both sponsors and students handled through the use of the Stripe API- User interface was dependent on the type of profile created, student or sponsor- Students create a personal profile with an avatar, bio and information detailing their desire to become a developer, and then create a loan request detailing the amount of money they are seeking, a description of what they will be doing with the money, and how they intend to repay the loan after completion of their coursework- Sponsors create a profile and can search through student profiles and loan requests to pick their receiver and loan the entirety or a portion of the requested amount- Students receive email notifications detailing request fulfillment progress, sponsors receive email notifications confirming their investment

The Blood Services division of the American Red Cross deals with the collection and processing of blood products for use in hospitals. As a Lab Technologist, I dealt with the screening of donated products to ensure their suitability for transfusion.- Performed automated and manual qualitative and quantitative testing of donor blood following the strict regulations of the FDA- Tests included observing multiple antigen/antibody interactions, white blood cell counting microscopically and triglyceride content analysis- Performed, tracked and documented equipment maintenance to local and manufacturer’s specifications, ensuring proper instrument operation and result accuracy- Invented a Nationally adopted “diluent caddy” for use with the Olympus 7200 which lowered risk of cross contamination and misuse of reagents, saving the American Red Cross resources approximating $100,000 per year- Personally developed and implemented a plan to maximize reagent efficiency on the PK 7300, increasing the number of tests performed per reagent vial by 15-20 (2-3%)- Wrote improved testing procedure documentation that was adopted nationally- Responsible for hundreds of adopted and in still-used process and procedural improvements- Used proprietary software to manage results and documentation- Trained and mentored new employees to ensure their testing was performed accurately and in a manner that was compliant with internal, state and federal regulations- Worked independently and with a team to accomplish daily tasks and long term projects- Participated in 2 year leadership development program with focus on maintaining quality and compliance- 4 years as a member of an Oregon OSHA compliant safety committee working to maintain a safe lab environment and improve workplace safety controls
