My career began in 2005 and I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2008. My professional development has continued since working with an excellent variety of clients of all sized businesses which has developed my strong technical skills in auditing, financial reporting, management accounting, tax management and planning. Working to deadlines and liaising with clients in a clear concise manner is a key part of my role.Never one for standing still, in late 2011 I became a member of JCI Barnsley to develop my softer skills, such as public speaking. I have put these skills to good use by delivering a careers presentation at the local College to inspire the next generation of finance apprentices! Being an active member of the Chamber has also allowed me to participate in community based events, and get to know people in the local business world and wider community.I also use my technical skills outside work to help others. I am not only an active member of JCI Barnsley, but also part of the Council team that run the Chamber. I hold the role of Finance Director in order to manage the Chamber’s resources effectively and help to train other members on project budgeting. I am also social director and my organisational and planning skills come in useful when arranging the monthly social activities for members to let their hair down!In my spare time I participate in the local community by representing the same local cricket team I have done since I was a youngster. In the past I have helped to train the junior element of our club, but recently I have taken responsibility for fundraising to create other income streams for the club. As expected I also help out with the finances! I am also a keen runner and over the last few years I have raised money for a number of local and national charities as well as the cricket club.Specialities: academies/auditing/owner managed business’ accounting, tax management and future planning.
