About Ian Carr Scmp, Mcips

I head a Contracts & Procurement consultancy, 5C Contracts, that since 2011 has worked on some large capital projects and carried out a number of process, current state & future proofing, prime contract advisory, and one off RFP/Q assignments. These have included providing additional resources as and when required. I pride myself and run my business on a strong belief that "together we can do anything," as such my company 5C works hard at developing and nurturing relationships with the clients, engineers, suppliers and contractors. Over the years I have learnt, and actively practice the approach that one size does not fit all. This approach has helped me develop a number of innovative solutions, e.g., Competitive tension, vertical risk sharing, commodity hub, evergreening. I have been in the Supply Chain profession for 30+ years. Starting in the construction industry in the UK for one of their biggest construction companies, John Laing Construction, completing their 5 year article pupil program which included 4 years in a Co-Op program obtaining my OTC/HTC in construction technology. Most of my career has been spent in the construction, Oil & Gas, engineering, manufacturing, and utility industries. Working on capital and maintenance projects ranging from:- Tunnel,- Highways, - Water treatment, - Mines, - Oil refineries, - SAGD & Upgraders - Office buildings & hospitals - Ports & pipelines, - Schools & colleges, - Rail infrastructure - Power stations, - Industrial facilities (paper mills, warehouses, etc.)- Meat and produce facilities. I have spent over 10 years based on project sites carrying out all the formation and administration, claims, change management, expediting, logistics and warehousing, managing on-site teams. The balance of my time has been split between working on capital and operations projects from corporate or remote locations and developing and managing corporate strategic sourcing, contracting & procurement best practices, technology & process initiatives and running projects, and a number of other purely consultancy type assignments.Over the years I have worked directly or as a consultant for clients, management consultants, contractors, project & construction management businesses and manufacturers, private and government, for various project values from <$100k up to $10+ Billion.
