Veolia Nuclear Solutions builds custom remote systems (robots) to retrieve high radiation waste from difficult to access locations that are too dangerous for human access. Most of the projects we build are focused on accessing waste at the Fukushima Daiichi plant in Japan. Our project lifecycle begins with the conceptual design of a remote system based on the situational limitations. This is followed by initial bench testing of novel systems required for the design. We then complete a detailed engineering design of the system before procuring the many parts required for such complex systems. VNS builds these system in-house in Lafayette Colorado, before programming, commissioning, and debug of the equipment. We work closely with our Japanese counterparts to ensure a quality product, that exceeds the requirements of the project. As the Project Manager, I handle a variety of tasks that ultimately manage the scope, schedule, budget, and stakeholders of the projects. Our current project (which is also the companies largest project) is on track to be delivered on-time and within budget Fall 2024

Led substation and transmission line improvement projects in Colorado, coordinating the engineering, construction, land rights, and project controls teams across multiple organizations for successful execution of grid refurbishment projects. Report project metrics, forecasts, and budgets to larger project management organization (PMO). Managed projects between $10k - $3.5M with $14M in annual work.

Responsibilities includeProcess Development: Measure plant unit operations and mass flow for material balance. Present highest efficiency system improvement projects and cost analysis to VP on Engineering. Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) with an emphasis on safe work and efficient processes.Product Development : Research physical characteristics of reclaimed carbon black compared to virgin carbon black. Liaise with industrial partners to perform characterization (SEM, Specific Surface Area, Oil Absorption, Particle Size Distribution), integration, and rubber compounding experiments. Use research to inform manufacturing developments aimed at improving the quality and value of reclaimed carbon black. Plant Documentation : Document current plant equipment in complete set of process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) using AutoCAD Plant 3D/PID. Other responsibilities include: create annotated engineering drawings of fabricated parts using SolidWorks, creating floor plans designating new equipment locations, draft safety data sheets of tire pyrolysis oil.

Responsible for building and testing milling process circuits for TiO2 powder for white pigment production. Tested milling process circuits for 1L - 50L batches of TiO2 slurry. Responsible for calcification of final pigment. Assisted in surface treatment of final pigment for mixing in oil or aqueous paint. Daily Responsibilities by Task- Ensure particle size distribution of final milled particles for commercial spec. pigment. - Optimize milling parameters and prototype new milling circuits for greater efficiency based on observations, and CFD models from senior engineers- Create health & safety protocols for commercial plant milling operations- Keep records of all circuit designs and parameters, with their numerical results and physical samples. - Identify wasteful processes and apply lean principles to pigment production
