Ian was appointed the Independent Chair of Central Highlands Regional Resource User Planning Limited, a community-owned, profit for purpose organisation dedicated to supporting sustainable regions, enterprises and industries. Ian recognized the need for a change in the structure of the entity and led, and personally performed the vast majority of the process to change from a co-operative limited to a company limited by guarantee (CHRRUP Limited). Ian's thorough engagement ensured active and constructive contribution from the 11 sectors represented on the earlier Board and received unanimous support in the secret ballot to proceed with this major change including Ian's ongoing appointment as Chair and as a Non-Executive Director. A key initiative as part of this change was the establishment of CHRRUP Forum as an ongoing consultative body to ensure diversity and inclusion of the 11 sectors. Ian has led significant strategic and operational reviews which included moving CHRRUP from total dependence on government funding through the establishment of a substantial commercial component. Ian's role as Chair, Chair of the Finance sub-committee and as a Non-Executive Director have given him the knowledge and confidence to create the position of Chief Executive Officer and to promote internally to fill that position. The CEO now shares with the Chair the responsibility of representing CHRRUP at relevant local, regional, State and National forums.

Ian contributed as a Director, Secretary, Company Secretary and Finance Director. His achievements included leading the group to successful outcomes including an advanced governance and compliance regime, an Inclusion Committee, a sound and fully functioning online financial system and a permanent staff member to service the membership of over five thousand and to oversee the operations of Pickleball throughout Australia.

Ian assisted CLA to operate successfully through the significant challenges that arose during the reduction of Queensland Government funding (which was only partly replaced by NDIS). Ian led the debate in favour of maintaining the highest standard of care rather than seeking the 'most profitable' approach. Ian is also contributed significant research and input into the Property Sub Committee of CLA and led mush of the and Advocacy sub-committee action. Ian encouraged expansion of the Social Enterprise aspects of CLA. Ian's interest in increasing inclusiveness in sport has been a driving factor in his involvement expanding activities for CLA "constituents". His sports marketing and sports administration skills are being used to develop sport with people with a disability.

Ian was elected to the role of Committee Member and to the Finance and Governance Committees to contribute governance and corporate services (finance, human resources and information technology) of QSEC as it transitioned toward a company limited by guarantee. He was also elected to the Steering Committee of the Social Enterprise Sector Stand-Up Project to provide oversight of the project management.

Ian excelled in meeting his responsibilities as Secretary and a Non-Executive Director level role on the Management Committee. He was the key contributor to improvement in governance. Ian agreed, after several approaches, to also serve full-time as the Interim Chief Executive Officer. and in this role, Ian delivered on a detailed organizational review and the initial implementation of a comprehensive business plan. In the absence of others ready and willing to take on the roles, Ian simultaneously served as Secretary, a Non-Executive Director level role on the Management Committee and Interim Chief Executive Officer. His deep understanding of governance, both from qualifications and experience, allowed him to perform all of these roles while ensuring absolute avoidance of conflict of interests. Ian excelled in meeting his responsibilities as Vice-President, Treasurer, Chair of the Finance sub-committee and a Non-Executive Director level role on the Management Committee. He was the key contributor to improvement in governance. Ian was a leader in the organizational review and management restructure shortly after his initial appointment. His skills and experience in finance, human resources and information technology provided important input into these decisions. Ian led other members holding Non-Executive Director level roles on the Management Committee to raise the level of governance and professional skills while also driving marketing to take this very successful operation to an even higher level. Ian has been the key driver for Laidley Community Centre to undertake a social enterprise - and Common Grounds is now a core component of the operation in delivering a wide range services of community services and a fully operational Cafe working for the benefit of Laidley community.

Ian established a company limited by guarantee and all the associated activities for the creation of the Inclusive Disability Action Spectacular (IDAS). IDAS was a social movement that focused on encouraging everyone to genuinely include people with a disability in all aspects of our society rather than seeing them as members of a diversity target group.

Ian was elected as an inaugural Director of Aurous and has delivered through a period of immense upheaval. Ian is a key driver of the sustainability of Aurous through progressively leading online services across the country utilising virtual offices to deliver virtual services.

Ian was elected to this role to contribute governance and corporate services (finance, human resources and information technology) skills and knowledge. Ian is also assisting in marketing these social opportunities for young people with disabilities and mental health background with mainstream environmental programs and outdoor adventure activities.

Ian established the body corporate executive for the new 53 unit multi-owner, multi-tenancy complex and implemented committee understanding and processes relating to governance.

Ian assisted in the overview of the day-to-day running of the body corporate, contributing to the decisions on behalf of all owners and assisting in decision implementation.

Ian encouraged grabbing opportunities for growth with a focus on domestic assistance, allied health service delivery social and group activities. This combination was developed within the risk appetite of the existing membership while seeking to establish long-term premises which will provide a base that connects businesses to solutions. Expanding funding sources was a vital component of the overall strategy. Ian’s awareness of the importance of compliance with regulatory requirements and quality assurance was clearly apparent throughout the discussions and decision making of the Board.

Ian served part-time in the Australian Army Reserve (initially CMF) with interruptions to service as a result of relocations in his civilian roles. He commenced in Mortar Platoon Sarina (Queensland), completed his Officer training at Officer Cadet Training Unit Townsville and served in Infantry in a range of roles and locations. The very long service dates include time on the Reserve of Officers.

Ian undertook research of all policy positions affecting Seniors (over 50) and undertook negotiation both internally and externally to deliver the optimal outcomes.
