I am a serial entrepreneur and innovator.I co-founded and led NOW Money, the Gulf’s first mobile payment app designed for essential workers and their employers, in the process securing the first regulatory permissions to do so in the payments space and raising $12m in GCC, US and European venture capital investment. I secured partnerships with partner banks and managed the build and launch of the product, its underlying PCI compliant payments systems and Visa card. NOW Money continues to transform and disrupt the region’s digital banking ecosystem today.Following exiting NOW Money I was Global Head of Product at CMC Markets, where I led the build of a new ML-driven multi asset securities trading platform. My early career was spent with HSBC in Capital Markets. I also founded and successfully exited the e-commerce platform REDCUPS.com.I am passionate about finding entrepreneurial ways to solve big real-world problems. I joined CMC Markets to drive their transformation efforts. Key to this was creating a new, unified multi-asset trading platform. We undertook deep user research with IDEO to identify the most important qualities and features the platform would need to have. We developed the new platform to use existing data and leverage machine learning techniques to create a new paradigm of trading experience for CMC's customers. With the aim of improving product delivery timelines, I also overhauled a number of technical and product development and governance processes, and unified disparate projects globally.

We founded NOW Money to address a global problem: banking the unbanked. Up to 70% of the people in the Middle East earn less than $1,500 a month, meaning they cannot access bank accounts. The NOW Money app and Visa payment card is free to use. Every customer has an account they can operate from a smartphone and use to remit money overseas at low cost, as well as being able to buy phone credit, pay bills, and access personal lending. We developed an innovative technology-led platform, integrating traditional financial services and innovative technologies, whilst operating within a tightly regulated environment. We had a clear vision to offer our customers the best customer experience in financial services in the Middle East. Our technology and customer focus allowed us to scale rapidly to over 50,000 customers, processing in excess of a billion Dirhams of transactions. We broke down a number of barriers, including groundbreaking regulatory work in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and being the first Fintech startup in the GCC to raise US Venture Capital funding. We raised $12m of Venture Capital funding from leading investors in Dubai, Saudi Arabia, the US, and the UK.
