I run my own business to deliver hardware and software solutions to the rail industry.Here is a selection of projects we have worked onIndigo (2017 - present)I designed and developed our own Indigo product. This is an embedded hardware system fitted to railway vehicles to measure quality of track and predict faults based on a bespoke PCB. This is multidisciplinary and involved everything from hardware and electronic design through to back-end server and customer-facing website.TrainScape (2012 - 2014)TrainScape is an in-house product. It is a data analysis software suite which contains a powerful unified querying tool for analysing and visualising data across multiple data sources including track recording coaches, black-box data, track side monitoring systems, live operational and timetable feeds,Vortok / Pandrol (2012 - 2022)Working with Vortok to develop a remote trackside monitoring system for axle-counting, train weighing and wheel impact detection with data reported to web/data server for analysis and distribution to customers.Virgin Trains / Avanti (2006 - present)We developed Vortex for Virgin Trains which allows them to automatically download black box data from their fleet of trains and analyse it to identify driver performance, delay attribution and fuel efficiency savings. The main challenge was to develop a query tool that could be flexible and work quickly on databases approaching 1TB in size.Siemens (2012 - 2014)Developed several software drivers for Siemens to allow SCADA product to communicate with particular hardware requirements e.g. CCTV, Passenger Information Displays, PLCs. The challenge of each driver is to communicate with low level protocols to the respective hardware to diagnose health, status reports and control.Bombardier (2012 - 2013)We developed software to help analyse LON network traffic on board passenger vehicles. This was used to help diagnose issues with Seat Reservation Displays and other on-board systems.
