I have many years of experience as a journalist (both staff and freelance), editor, author, and occasional broadcaster, covering business, finance, and economics for leading publications and media outlets, including the Financial Times, the Sunday Times, the Guardian, the Herald, and the BBC.I am the author of the critically-acclaimed book ‘Shredded: Inside RBS The Bank That Broke Britain’, which exposes the catastrophic mistakes that led to the collapse of what was then the world's largest bank by assets, a bank which has since July 2020 been known as NatWest. My broadcast work has included being lead researcher and consultant on the one-hour BBC documentary ‘RBS: Inside the Bank That Ran Out of Money,' which was shortlisted for a Bafta, as well as involvement, either as researcher, interviewee or consultant, on at least ten other BBC and Channel Five television and radio documentaries, as well as regular appearances on BBC and other news and current affairs shows. In my role as communications lead (part-time) at Future Economy Scotland I have, since March 2024, been liaising with journalists and broadcasters to promote the non-partisan think tank’s research and economic analysis on the issues facing Scotland, organising events, and taking responsibility for Future Economy Scotland's social-media activity.
