Ian Friedman has earned a fierce reputation for successfully defending individuals and organizations in complex criminal and white collar matters. Based in Cleveland, he has served as counsel across Ohio, the United States and internationally. He is a frequent lecturer, author, commentator, and expert witness called upon to address important legal issues. In addition to his practice, Mr. Friedman is an adjunct professor at the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law where he teaches Cybercrime. Mr. Friedman is currently serving as the President of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association. Having tried in excess of 250 jury cases to verdict, Mr. Friedman was inducted into the prestigious American Board of Criminal Lawyers in 2010. He was named the first ever “Lawyer of the Year” in 2010 by the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. That same year, the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association bestowed upon him the William K. Mr. Friedman is regarded as the driving force and chief architect behind the transformation of the Ohio criminal justice system in what became commonly known as “Open Discovery” reform. As a result of his effort, accused persons in Ohio must now be provided all evidence intended to be introduced by the government against them at trial. Mr. Friedman has been routinely named in the “Best Lawyers in America”, Ohio Super Lawyers, National Trial Lawyers, and Inside Business Magazine as a leading criminal defense lawyer.
