Principal Scientist managing the NASA Earth Exchange, a project that combines state-of-the-art supercomputing, Earth system modeling, and NASA remote sensing data to address challenges facing science and society. S&T Manager for Ames Research Center's contributions to the NASA Earth System Observatory, including development of a science data processing pipeline control infrastructure for spaceflight missions and the architecting of a small satellite constellation pathfinder for hyperspectral continuity measurements.

Responsible for setting strategies and forging new relationships across government, academia, and the private sector to position Ames Research Center at the forefront of new scientific initiatives in ecology, geology, and natural hazards modeling. Manages a portfolio of sponsored research in advanced information systems technologies. Key Accomplishments: • Successfully wrote or coordinated proposals for promising inter-agency research initiatives and preparatory science for new Earth Science satellite missions. • Negotiated interagency funding and administrative support for a joint NASA/USGS post-doctoral fellowship program targeting the high-priority Earth Science and applications objectives laid out in the NRC Earth Science Decadal Survey.• Awarded the NASA Exceptional Technology Achievement Medal

Currently serving in dual-roles as the Executive Officer for Coast Guard Reserve Unit USINDOPACOM and as a strategic planner in the Strategy & Assessments Division. Regularly promoted and assigned management positions of increasing responsibility, including oversight of more than 100 staff conducting the full spectrum of domestic and expeditionary U.S. Coast Guard missions.

Key Accomplishments: • Co-investigator on a successful ~$650K National Science Foundation grant to develop a next-generation marine acoustic telemetry system and bring it to market.• Facilitated U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service decision analysis workshops for teams of natural resource scientists, stakeholders, and decision makers.

Key Accomplishments: • Performed preliminary research for reports related to scientific ocean drilling, Earth Observing Systems, and tsunami preparedness; assisted with committee member selection.

Key Accomplishments:• Authored four chapters describing the current state of the Arctic and the sovereignty, governance, resource development, shipping, scientific research, and environmental challenges facing the five coastal Arctic states (including the United States, Canada, Russia, Norway and Denmark/Greenland) .

Regularly promoted and assigned management positions of increasing responsibility, including command-at-sea, congressional liaison, management/supervision of 12 staff, ~$5M in capital assets, and $100K annual budget. Key Accomplishments: • Developed and implemented a four-state Congressional engagement strategy that raised awareness and support for Coast Guard acquisition and policy initiatives.• Led internal U.S. Coast Guard and state law enforcement stakeholders to improve intelligence collection and surveillance of fishing activities in the Gulf of Mexico, leading to improved safety and compliance with Federal fishing law.• Awarded Coast Guard Commendation Medal.
