At the time, nation's only residency program focused on physician leadership and health systems management. Trained in treating wide range of adult diseases including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, infectious disease, and others. Designed a predictive model to identify surgical patients at increased risk of prolonged hospital stays with 80% accuracy.

Competitive one-year fellowship for medical students at the CDC. Led research team focused on health policy -- evaluating health insurance expansions using difference-in-differences modeling. Work published in Health Affairs and nominated for the CDC's highest award for scientific research.
