Ian Gray is a Operations Director at Epic Church San Francisco. He possess expertise in leadership, microsoft excel, social media, strategic planning, writing and 13 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "I recommend Ian with the highest enthusiasm. Ian was a student in my Valuation and Financial Modeling class in Spring 2020, so I have known him for almost four years now. Let me put it succinctly – Ian was one of the top five students among more than one thousand students I have taught over ten years at Loyola Marymount and University of Oregon. It is rare that a student possesses exceptional skills in research, modeling, writing, and presenting. Ian checks all of these boxes. In my class, Ian worked on Mercado Libre for his final valuation project. The quality of his report, analysis, and presentation were just outstanding. I was also fortunate to have Ian work as a research and teaching assistant in 2021. He developed a stock pitch guide that I could share with future students. It is not an overstatement to say that his work far exceeded my expectations – I was extremely impressed. We have kept in touch since Ian graduated in 2022. I recently invited Ian to be a guest speaker for my classes. He shared some very valuable insights with my students and also demonstrated how to quickly build a financial model in Excel to capture the economic drivers of a business. The students were very engaged and kept asking a lot of questions, taking up the entire an hour and 40 minutes of class. Many students told me afterwards how much they appreciated Ian’s talk – it was a beneficial learning experience not just for them but also for myself. On a personal note, I find Ian very personable and easy to talk to. He will be a fantastic colleague, team member, and mentor for younger analysts. I have no doubt that Ian will have an amazing career. I recommend him with the highest enthusiasm and utmost confidence." and "In a word, Ian is the BEST research assistant I have had in ten years of teaching. Wise and mature beyond his years, he has all the qualities that I look for in an employee: intellect, drive, work ethic, high performance, good nature, and loyalty. He has my very highest recommendation."

Investing Team InternThe Motley Fool Jun 2020 - Jul 2020Alexandria, Virginia, UsI was part of the first remote group of interns at The Motley Fool. Although this brought some challenges, it was still an incredible experience. I gained confidence in my ability to work remotely and meet deadlines. My summer responsibilities largely fell into three buckets:1. Researching StocksDuring the summer, I made 2 stock pitches to the entire investing team. These were 15-20 minute pitches with a subsequent Q&A session. I prepared a slide deck and an accompanying analyst report for each presentation. I researched financials, valuation, proxy statements/management, and company strategy. In addition to these formal pitches, I participated in researching and writing short-form reports on over 20 stocks.2. Participating in Podcasts/Live StreamsI joined an episode of the popular podcast, Market Foolery, as an analyst. In that episode, we discussed the recent earnings reports of Twitter, Microsoft, and Chipotle. In preparation for the podcast, I reviewed the quarterly report, past trends, and the earnings call. I distilled that information and took notes to help me succinctly share my analysis in a way that was accessible for the average listener.I also joined 2 member-only live stream shows. The first show I did a quick 5-minute stock pitch, shared some of my experience from the internship, and answered live Q&A from the audience. The second show is on daily and is called The Rundown. It involves two analysts debating 9 topics from the news of the day. The shows forced me to practice my public speaking skills and do thorough research in order to be confident in my analysis.3. Investor DevelopmentThe Motley Fool has an extensive Investor Development Program. As an intern, I got to take over 20 classes taught by analysts at The Motley Fool. The topics ranged from financial statement analysis of SaaS companies to behavioral economics. It would be hard to overstate how beneficial these classes were to my business and investing education. -
