About Ian Gunthorpe

Since I graduated from University in Psychology I have worked in the fast pace customer service arena of Retail. I have been a part of the Austin Reed, Crombie, Harvey Nichols, Hugo Boss, Gieves and Hawkes and TM Lewin brands. The best part of retail is the interaction with the customers. To listen and identify their needs and for them to be feel satisfied with my customer service and the products chosen. As an Assistant manager it is all about being the support to the manager and the leader to my team. To listen, explain, delegate, to be fair and to utilise the team and their strengths. In conjunction with this to keep a keen eye on the prerequisite KPI's that underpin a brand's success.On a personal level I possess articulacy, humour (that is appropriate for the workplace!), fairness, perceptiveness and that I foster a cohesive teamwork atmosphere. People are important whether it's the team or clients. It all comes full circle.When I am not working I love cooking recipes from scratch. Opera is the music of my choice and my bucket list is to visit the opera houses around the world. Crime thrillers, horror, biographies, cookbooks and positivity books are a few categories that are perused! Professionally I am looking for retail opportunities. Furthermore, those roles that utilise my skillset and interest in helping, mentoring and roles in the psychology/counselling fields.
