Wrote, and designed backend systems, before moving back to Toronto to found Horizon.

My early tenure here involved general product development, with a backend focus in Java. Following that I worked to scale out our tech stack as a member of the Platform Team designing and building our next-generation micro-services architecture.

Helped lead, drive and successfully launch two client projects: a doctor-focused iPad health app (later sold) and an in-house time-scheduling Web application written in Angular for Deloitte.

First full-time hire part of the core development team responsible for building a next-generation mobile ad platform. Major work includes writing and maintaining the core iOS SDK, lead on the client facing portal in Rails, and key decision making regarding overall planning and design of the product and backend systems. Helped design a fault-tolerant and horizontally scalable system with a NoSQL datastore. I was also responsible for system administration of our cloud infrastructure via Chef.

Wrote the software for Shitter, an e-commerce site allowing Twitter users to order printed toilet paper with their Twitter feed of choice. Press articles in Forbes, Mashable, Business Week, The Huffington Post and countless other publications; reached #3 on Hacker News. Hosted on AWS.

Worked closely with clients as a consultant to design and implement solutions that meet client specifications. Notable accomplishments: * A senior engineer responsible for implementing one of Canada's largest newswire distribution network. Helped design an SOA platform to service Web and mobile clients.* On-site and remote consultation for an international toy company. Collaborated with programmers and project managers to oversee quality assurance and software integration.* Managed a team of client-side programmers to implement a Web application for a large electricity operator in Ontario. Independently designed a complete AJAX framework shared across six modules.* Created one of the largest children's social network as part of an eight-person development team. Successfully integrated open source code with Affinity's own proprietary software.* Designed and implemented a full-featured Web application in Flash for a large employment assessment company with over 1,000 clients. Features included searching, dialogs, forms, wizards and tree views. Modified Flash's ActionScript source code to meet specific client needs.* Independently built the front-end of a phishing monitoring system in ASP.NET for a leading online brand management company. Data visualized using Google Maps.* Successfully designed the data layer for an in-house employee timesheet system.
