Since 2005, Ian has worked in the energy industry including stints at BP, Halliburton, Hess, Blackstone Mineral and as an independent operator and consultant. Ian graduated from Tulane University, where he earned his undergraduate degree (BA) and Masters of Business administration (MBA).A selected highlight came at Hess Corporation, where Ian played a vital role in the startup of their Land Excellence division. His work resulted in many key organizational and individual accomplishments, including development of a new and comprehensive acquisition plan. Effectively creating standard operating procedures that changed how interdepartmental and external organizations interact and communicate. Throughout his career, Ian has provided multiple organizations with strategic vision and skillful execution based on extensive industry knowledge.Today Ian works for the Downman companies. The companies were founded in the 1800's to harvest and process the lumber in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. In the early 20th century the companies began developing the mineral resources, primarily hydrocarbons and graphite. The companies continue responsible lumber harvesting and mineral development while pivoting into the energy transition, commuting over 30,000 acres to carbon sequestration and exploring opportunities in sustainable farming, hydrogen development and domestic critical mineral resourcing.
