mBlox is the world’s largest mobile transaction network, specialising in global operator connectivity and mobile payments.I am an experienced Java and Perl software developer specializing in J2SE (and to a lesser degree, J2EE). I specialize in development of high performance, reliable, concurrent and scalable messaging software. Most of my work involved integrating mBlox core messaging system with suppliers (global telecoms network operators). This involved protocol conversion, network sockets, flow control & window management, thread safety, concurrency, performance and reliability. A very large percentage of the messages being passed were of high value (premium sms). This work carried a lot of responsibility. Any mistakes, duplication or lost messages could result in financial disaster for mBlox. I also designed and developed mBlox's SMPP gateway, allowing clients to send SMS messages. My work here involved advising and assisting clients on aspects of Unix (Linux, OpenBSD, Solaris), IP networking, SMTP, NTP, security, Perl, network monitoring (Nagios - then called Netsaint). I extended my knowledge of network monitoring by attaining "Netcool Certified Consultant" certification. I was responsible for maintaining both the mission critical back end server farm (ICL DRS 6000's) and for the desktop pc network (100's of PC's over 3 sites).Key Achievements:* Designed and implemented PC network from scratch with Windows for Workgroups & TCPIP networking* Implemented the company's first Internet connection including corporate email & ISDN router for internet access* Heavily involved in the design, implementation and maintenence of a buried fibre optic network to link 3 sites spread across a business park.
