From an early point in my career achieving OTD (on time delivery) at sustainable cost/quality levels for the “bought out” material content has been a key requirement. Where components are required to be produced to in-house (custom) design simple benchmarking, whilst important to confirm competitive pricing, is insufficient to ensure continuity of supply. At Ultra Hydraulics, Ultronics/Senstronics and Spectrum Medical I instigated a supplier capability model that included a thorough assessment of the financial strength of the company and a “Disaster Recovery Plan” to cover a number of “what if” scenarios.As Ultronics, Sentronics and Spectrum Medical were companies I joined at the startup phase I have good experience in establishing s supplier base from scratch. At Spectrum Medical this process had to be enhanced to make sure the suppliers were capable of delivering the quality requirements of an ISO 13485 manufacturer from the initial startup quantities to high volume. Managing supplier volume expectations (I.E their willingness to support our demands) during these small volume requirements is challenging.At both Ultra Hydraulics and Senstronics I was part of the team tasked with assessing, selecting and implementing 3rd party MRP/ERP systems.During my time at Spectrum Medical I worked extremely closely with the hardware & software engineering design teams to ensure prompt and realistic feedback from the initial suppliers so once final design specifications were issued the suppliers had already bought into the commercial and quality demands of said specifications.I am particularly satisfied with my involvement as one of the founding partners of Spectrum Medical that my team and I were able to take a product from conception through to volume manufacture, through the CE & FDA approval processes, to it being sold into the majority of global cardiac theaters.I believe my experience in creating sustainable, commercially attractive supply chains, in depth technical knowledge, regulatory compliance and production volume ramp up via software planning systems, holding senior manager/board level roles, makes me especially well suited to a broad range of senior management positions.
