The next 6 years were funded by the Consortium.During this period I spent 4 years travelling the world and studying control room operations identifying best practices between different companies and identifying common problems such as alarm management, HMI design, training, procedures, etc. With 5 Universities and over 50 PhD’s we sought to resolve these weaknesses and develop new best practices and solutions. I wrote over 200 technical papers on these subjects, participated in the UK HSE Alarm Management Guidelines, developed and paid for the EEMUA 191 Guidelines on Alarm Management and helped develop the EEMUA 201 HMI Guidelines.
