Dr Wade's professional career has focused closely on the study of meteorology and oceanography since beginning a bachelor's degree in environmental sciences in 1988. After graduating in 1991, completing a PhD in 1995, and then undertaking a 3 year post-doctoral position, he has worked in the commercial sector of oceanography, specialising in the provision of high quality, independent metocean services for the offshore oil and gas industries. The commercial metocean work includes the use of an extensive variety of statistical analysis methods, technical report writing, close liaison with clients and strong financial management. Dr Wade has now worked in the commercial sector for over 20 years and is currently a metocean consultant with ABPmer. During the summer of 2003 he became a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST). This has been followed with Chartered Marine Scientist (CMarSci) and Chartered Scientist (CSci) status during 2006.
