I provide technical leadership in chemical testing for a range of toxic, dangerous and environmentally significant chemicals from a range of sources. • Specialty in pesticide and other volatile and semi-volatile organic pollutants analysis by GC/MS(/MS) methods• Quantification of nonvolatile and polar pesticides by LC/MS• Identification of unknown pollutants and environmental contaminants• Analysis by extraction and derivatisation• A wide range of ancillary testing procedures• NATA ISO 17025 signatory for organics analysis

• GC/MS headspace analysis as part of an early detection of food spoilage ongoing project• GC/MS analysis of fatty acids from a range of food products• Application of Elisa test kits for aflatoxin identification in peanut products to potentially replace current laboraotry techniques• A wide range of basic food testing techniques

• Development and implementation of Laboratory Safety Manuals into all chemistry, physics, biology and psychology labs at the University of Newcastle• Creation of detailed chemical manifests of all chemistry, physics and psychology laboratories in accordance with NSW WHS Regulation 2011• Experienced working to Australian Standards and Codes of Practice pertaining to hazardous materials and hazardous procedures• Oversaw the work of less experienced members of the Work Health Safety team

Research chemist for the UoN Medicinal Chemistry Group as a part of the Australian Cancer Research Foundation Centre for Kinomics (ACRF-CFK).
