Non Executive Director of voluntary organisation with Charitable Status.

I led the HR and OD team (50 staff, £1.3million budget) function for this 5000 employee organisation, as a member of the Corporate Management Team, responsible for People Strategy and workforce transformation, together with HR leadership and delivery.

Reporting to the Principal and Chief Executive, as a member of the 5 person Executive team engaged in a major £56m capital redevelopment project. As their first HR Director, as well as sitting on the Project Steering Group, I had responsibility for leading and developing HR strategy and services, as well as Marketing/PR, health and safety, some operational support services. I routinely attended and reported to the Board of Management.

Working closely with, and deputising for, the HR Director, I was responsible for the coordination of HR activities and delivery of strategic developments within a project management structure. I project managed restructuring of the HR function in 2002, devolving most of the central HR staff, recruiting new professionals to head up the devolved teams, and then working with the Director to develop an effective corporate function and overall HR capability. Prior to this, I led a large team responsible for providing the full range of professional and transactional HR services.

HR Business Partner as member of multi disciplinary senior management team covering 1000 staff. I line managed the HR function and took the lead on key strategic areas such as Equality and Diversity. I also had £4million budget responsibility for medical staff and managed an outsourced housing contract. I developed and implemented strategic changes in a number of clinical services, working in close partnership with clinicians, funders, regulators, trade unions and competitor organisations.
