I am a data scientist, engineer, and researcher interested in how data can be leveraged to help people in the process of decision-making under uncertainty. My experience set is very diverse, ranging from quantitative trading to data science for product development and business strategy, and finally engineering physics for the next generation of hypersonic aircraft. I think these experiences give me some unique perspectives and allowed me to bring inventive approaches to solve problems for business stakeholders. Over the course of my career I've come to primarily view problems through the lens of Bayesian statistics; I particularly appreciate it's power to incorporate both domain knowledge and data insights while maintaining a consistent accounting of uncertainty.Currently I am working as a quantitative trader, managing a portfolio of volatility trading strategies and providing technical management for junior traders in their quantitative development projects. I also have another previous stint in the finance and trading industry doing quantitative research and trading in the equity options market using a variety of machine learning and statistical analysis tools to generate actionable insights into financial markets. My most recent previous role was as a Data Scientist at TrueCar, focusing on statistical and machine learning models to improve product experiences and uncover deep insight into the data generated by the company and its partners. Originally I honed my data analysis and problem solving skills in the aerospace industry, where I completed a Ph.D. focused on sensor systems for advanced aircraft propulsion systems and test facilities.
