Hosting Domain ArchitectNewcrest Mining May 2011 - Jun 2013Defined the global data centre and hosting strategy to move towards a service focused centralised IaaS model. My scope included servers and virtualisation, data and information lifecycle management, storage & backup and supporting infrastructure such as computer room facilities. I developed repeatable standard architectures for on-site ‘hosting’ services including storage, backup, server hardware, software, virtualisation, database, facilities and monitoring. I led the design process for renewal of aging hosting environment at multiple Newcrest sites including two of the key mining assets in Papua New Guinea and West Australia.Additionally I assisted with a number of other activities including: • Developed content and assisted with review of a tender for enterprise wide hosting services.• Project to integrate IT and OT (Operating Technology) services and deploy centralised control rooms • Assisted with the architecture for a number of new mining control and exploration apps• Migration, centralisation and consolidation of services into hosted data centre • Defined the computer room specifications for a new facility at a mine site in PNG.
