Created a strategy defining how eSolutions (Monash Universities’ IT Services) will consume and deliver IT services to the wider university, affiliates and research partners in the future. This strategy takes into consideration the use of cloud solutions including Software, Platform and Infrastructure as a Service, as well as consideration of the use of private cloud and on-site services.I undertook a number of presentations to senior stakeholders, operational staff and faculties across The University to describe the implications and opportunities of cloud adoption.The programme was divided into two major components:A Competitive Dialogue tender process that used to select appropriate partners to provide cloud services. I was responsible for creation of the technical evaluation process and successfully chaired the technology dialogue sessions used to gain a detailed understanding of the respondent’s offerings and to select partner/s. The second component of the programme consisted of evaluating the existing fleet of systems, services and applications in use at Monash to decide which of them are appropriate to be migrated to as a service model.

Defined the global data centre and hosting strategy to move towards a service focused centralised IaaS model. My scope included servers and virtualisation, data and information lifecycle management, storage & backup and supporting infrastructure such as computer room facilities. I developed repeatable standard architectures for on-site ‘hosting’ services including storage, backup, server hardware, software, virtualisation, database, facilities and monitoring. I led the design process for renewal of aging hosting environment at multiple Newcrest sites including two of the key mining assets in Papua New Guinea and West Australia.Additionally I assisted with a number of other activities including: • Developed content and assisted with review of a tender for enterprise wide hosting services.• Project to integrate IT and OT (Operating Technology) services and deploy centralised control rooms • Assisted with the architecture for a number of new mining control and exploration apps• Migration, centralisation and consolidation of services into hosted data centre • Defined the computer room specifications for a new facility at a mine site in PNG.

Supported the Victorian Government’s Whole of Health ICT strategy. The program included an aggressive roll out of four applications to Victoria’s health agencies. I helped develop and deploy a highly available architecture to support the strong Service Levels required. I worked on:• Oracle 10G RAC infrastructure supporting multiple DBs and thousands of users• Updated infrastructure architecture to improve availability using a number of technologies including Citrix, VMware and HPUX Service Guard;• Developed architecture and process to make better use of DR infrastructure, including migration of non-production environments from primary to secondary data centres;• The integration of two new HDS USP-V storage arrays into the environment;• Led a process to improve the utilisation of storage infrastructure potentially saving the organisation many thousands of dollars.

I was initially contracted to assist in the development and deployment of Mercedes-Benz Australia’s server and workstation S.O.E Upon completion of the SOE and server deployment I took a roll in which I;Made changes to the SOE, using System Management ServerResponsible for the proactive maintenance of all NT4 servers nationally I managed the remediation and rollover plans for Y2K. This consisted of ensuring that all business critical systems had been accounted for and that any patches or updates had been applied. I designed and implemented a rollover and post Y2K functionality-testing plan.For the remainder of my time I worked in a special projects role. I worked on the deployment a new Freight Management System, a new Electronic Parts Catalogue system, the design of a new Remote Access System and evaluated a number of pieces of equipment and software including the MYSAP html interface and initial compatibility testing of Windows 2000
