Upon joining Colorado Energy, they had only just begun trading activities, through a week ahead, daily auction process, for power. Knowing this was not a long-termviable option, due to the volatile prices, I was able to trade OTC, thereby minimising the exposure and costs. Mark-to-market analysis showed the benefit in doing this.I created a spreadsheet demand forecast for gas & power to provide me with a portfolio requirement to target. Linked to this, I discussed with colleagues the need to review our high AQ & EACs, with the aim being to obtain improved customer meter reading accuracy.Additionally I spoke with 3rd parties, that included counter-parties for trading, ETRM for a new trading system, as well as demand forecasting organisations. I was also responsible for market risk. Producing a weekly risk report & presentation, highlighting market fundamentals as well as our open position. I also created mark-to-market reports, tracking our trading activities on a monthly basis, down to daily granularity.
