The NSF Fellowship provides a stipend to pursue graduate study and research. I started my fellowship modeling ground source heat pump systems. I then wrote a series of white papers on ventilation and cooling for dairy cows. For my thesis I built a respiration rate monitor for dairy cows, to monitor heat stress levels. I took classes in computer science and additional engineering courses.

Duties included: CAD in SolidWorks, prototype fabrication, sensor set-up and calibration, experimentation, calculations, and field work. Teaching assistant for computer aided design class teaching SolidWorks and AutoCAD Civil3D. Duties included: monitoring and aiding students with homework during help sessions, writing homework, grading, creating instructional videos to complement homework, managing course page, and responding to student emails.

Daily tasks included: separation of nematodes and nematode eggs from soil samples, counting of nematodes and nematode eggs using a microscope, taking soil samples in field, data entry, and experimental set-up.
