As a UX Researcher and co-founder of the UX Research team, I:- Worked with PMs and Designers to scope research projects that mapped the needs of each team to company OKRs and product roadmaps- Interviewed participants through contextually relevant methods — ethnographic research, co-design, live prototyping, and more- Structured and summarized key learnings in order to generate insights and opportunities that informed product design and business strategy- Led research workshops and built referenceable documents for designers to utilize in their research and design process-Wrote the UX Research Newsletter that kept product teams updates on research efforts as well as research tips

Farmlink is a 150 person startup that has redirected 27 million pounds of surplus produce to communities in need. Farmlink is part of a social venture with IDEO, the World Wildlife Fund, and Kroger. As the Research Lead of our 11 person team, I worked to: -Recruit farmers and food banks to identify user needs, market opportunities, and areas for design-Interview participants through contextually relevant methods — ethnographic research, co-design, live prototyping, and more-Lead the team through research synthesis by structuring and summarizing key learnings in order to generate insights and opportunities that inform product and business strategy-Collaborate with IDEO designers on sprints focused on understanding the needs of large farm operators, exploring potential business models, and developing a prototype of the MVP user experience

In a design sprint at the beginning of the pandemic, I was broadly challenged with reimagining how resources could be most effectively utilized. I lead the research and synthesis that revealed labor as both an underutilized land in-demand resource. Our team proposed a skills-swap website concept with Figma mockups and storyboarding.

Following Thayer’s initiative to make their engineering capstone course more student-centered, I was invited onto a team of four to conduct research for the course’s redesign. Our recommendations for a curriculum anchored in teamwork skills and communication is now implemented by the professors. As Design Researcher, I:-Conducted interviews and surveys with students (23), professors (2), and advisors (6) in order have a holistic understanding of the problems with the course-Led iterative feedback workshop sessions with our users to tighten our ideas and ensure they were answering user needs

I instructed students on human-centered design methodology—pushing students to always ground their ideas in research. When the pandemic hit, I helped adapt the course to the remote learning setting.

In my capstone design project, my challenge was to improve patient-provider communication for patients with serious illness. Our team designed a digital tablet interface that utilizes voice recording to help patients understand information about their care at their own pace. As the UX Researcher, I:-Conducted iterative A/B testing of the voice recording concept over 6 weeks-Interviewed and shadowed 9 patients, 13 doctors and 7 other stakeholders in order to best understand the nuances of the patient experience

Cambridge, Massachusetts

In an effort to build community, I launched a storytelling project, ‘Humans of IDEO Cambridge.” I interviewed 24 of my coworkers, compiled their stories in a book, and shared the book with the Cambridge studio. This book helped to foster a greater sense of appreciation for one another by surfacing stories that would not otherwise come up in day-to-day conversation.
