I am a marine scientist at the Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research in Germany. I am an early career researcher with a Master’s degree in Marine Bioresources and PhD in Marine Sciences. With my marine sciences background, I have the chance to work with great NGOs such as WWF and IUCN in the Mediterranean region. In addition, I have participated in different international cooperation projects on marine conservation issues and the management of fisheries. My current research interest focuses on the human dimensions of coastal resources management and the governance of social-ecological systems in Mediterranean MPAs facing increased climate change impacts.During my academic journey, I have been honoured with prestigious fellowships from the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (1-year Postdoctoral Fellowship), A*MIDEX Foundation - initiative of excellence (2-year Postdoctoral Fellowship) or the European Commission (Erasmus Mundus Master Scholarship). I have written scientific papers and technical reports on MPAs management, fishers’ local ecological knowledge, social-ecological systems, ICZM and others. In addition, I have participated in multiple workshops and international conferences. Since 2022 I have been working on an international cooperation project “Protection of the Environment and Biodiversity of the Algerian Coast (PEBLA)” as a short-term expert, designing and implementing a diversified portfolio related to enhancing the management effectiveness of MPAs in Algeria. In collaboration with GFA Consulting Group GmbH, I am also an evaluator for a training benefiting 1,900 fishers on responsible fishing and sustainable aquaculture for building the next generation of responsible fishers.
