About Ibrahim Ince

I am an anthropologist and artist specialising in borders, post-conflict culture, memory and heritage. Currently, I am a PhD researcher in Anthropology at the University of Oxford.Through my artistic practice and anthropological research, I explore the stories and experiences of individuals and communities, particularly in Cyprus. Transitioning from exploring and ‘processing’ my family's intergenerational experience of conflict in my artistic projects, my PhD project is an ethnographic investigation of Cypriots' everyday engagement with the protracted border. Most recently, I have been the Lead Curator for the heritage, fashion, and art exhibition ‘Revive' (2023) at the Cyprus High Commission in the UK. Notably, I held the position of Artist-in-Residence at the CYENS Centre of Excellence and was the recipient of the FUAM Art Prize and the FUAM People's Choice Award (2021).
