• Negotiating with vendors to ensure-secure the mine receive best price, discounts and delivery time on purchases.• Identifying industry trends and market development for respective material groups.• Initiating and developing cost reduction projects for assigned commodities.• Working with end users in the field as necessary, to ensure appropriate purchase decisions.• Working closely with other departments such as Engineering in order to anticipate upcoming projects and demands.• Developing current and accurate daily documentation of purchases including purchase order logs and quotations. Creating detailed RFQ package for suppliers to bid on, evaluating proposals for the commodities in the form of side by side comparisons.• Monitoring and tracking invoices to ensure timely payment and price cut opportunities.• Maintaining working relationship with suppliers critical to the mine and developing supply strategies which will ensure the supply of quality material and continually drive for lowest total cost.• Monitoring expediting report to ensure materials purchased meet required delivery time and developing local and global material group strategies.
