About Ibrahim Khan

I am a Student Graduate in Computer Engineering from the University of Maryland. I currently work for Google’s Core ML Infrastructure team. Previously, I worked on YouTube’s Core Reliability Team.A little about my experience in Undergraduate Studies:I enjoyed learning about Computer Networking the most. Starting with simple TCP & UDP Server Client models to building distributed networking protocols, the experience taught me a great deal. I also loved learning about Operating Systems. I came to see the vastness of Operating Systems with the dozens of complex trade-offs we as engineers need to consider when designing an Operating System for the intended use case. I also came to witness the advantages of virtualization, something that wasn’t nearly as intuitive as most networking concepts.

Research Assistant under Professor Udaya Shankar. I defined a service that builds on the popular 2 Phase commit (2PC) Database Concurrency Control Protocol. The protocol processes database transactions reliably and atomically in a distributed environment. Dealt with a single point of failure scenario where the coordinator node crashes. I started with a stub implementation followed by a service tester for testing applications and implementations.
