- Pre-operative assessment of patients appointed for surgery, and assign any premeditations necessary. (introduction, explanation of role , history taking, examination , medications and allergies, investigations, consent verbal and written, premedicate, transfer to O.R)- Confer with other medical professionals to determine type and method of anaesthetic or sedation to render patient insensible to pain.- Machine check, drugs preparations, instruments, suction ready, positioning of patient .- Intra- operative care . (Hemodynamic stability, optimal fluid management, normocarbia, normoglycemia, normothermia, normoxia, excellent pain control)- Induction of general anaesthesia , or spinal according to the decision made under supervision of a senior medical staff and professor.- Vital signs monitoring and documentation, drugs administered documentation, maintain good airway and oxygenation throughout surgery, drugs maintenance, positioning maintenance, and reversal preparation and administration, counteract adverse events if occurs at anytime, according to safety protocols .- Decide when patient recovers, and send to PACU, for post-operative assessment (key points – Airway , breathing , circulation and drugs administration , analgesia , fluids, temperature , endocrine check – blood sugar , blood pressure )- Follow up with patients in the recovery room , and sign for dismissal to wards , or leave for one day surgery operations.- Introduction to anaesthesia for emergency surgery , management of respiratory and cardiac arrest in ER and ICU. On call throughout the shift.- Control of infection and coordinate with work of nurses , medical technician and other health care providers.- Arrange for lectures , seminars and class rooms for students , and guide house officers to the basic principles of safe and effective anesthesia.- Rotate over patients in wards underwent surgery for pain medication , follow-up and maintenance .
