As the President of the Energy & Commodities Society at Bayes Business School, I lead a team dedicated to exploring and understanding the dynamic world of energy and commodities markets. My role involves organizing educational events, fostering industry connections, and providing members with valuable insights and networking opportunities. I'm committed to enhancing the professional development of our members by facilitating access to industry leaders, up-to-date market information, and exclusive learning experiences. Through this role, I aim to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world applications in the energy and commodities sector.

I did a month long internship with the trade, shipping, and executions departments.With the Trade team I learnt how wheat, rice, and sugar are traded globally and what are the factors which the traded looks out for in terms of product specifications and costs. I also learnt how the mechanism of trade happens, such as the use of hedging.With the Executions team I learnt of the many documents and certificates used to ensure that the trade goes as planned. I also learnt about the various payment terms and when they are used.With the Shipping team I learnt about the shipping industry as a whole and what the largest playing factors affecting it these years are. I also learnt about the different types of chartering and how revenue is captured in each of them. Additionally, I worked laytime calculation for a few shipments.

Being an intern at Midstar gave me the opportunity to gain insight into the agricommodity trading industry. I interned in the IT department and got to learn the importance of having a smooth and reliable IT infrastructure and the ways that could be done in a company. I also interned in other departments from which I learnt how trading, hedging, and chartering are done as well as various other things. Moreover, I gained a lot of valuable life lessons such as the importance of adapting to improving technologies, assessing risks and costs when making a decision, and understanding the supply chain in any relevant industry.
