A world music festival in the desert in the South of Moroccco celebrating cultural heritage and nomadic lifestyle. The Taragalte festival is based on the concept of the traditional moussem – a traditional festival held when the trade caravans entered the big oasis of Taragalte (M’hamid) after traveling across the desert for months. The Taragalte festival wants to revive the traditional moussem by putting emphasis on cultural exchange between different communities of the North African Sahara and the rest of the world. Traditional and modern music, legends, stories, and customs are combined and brought to life.

Generation Taragalte consists of six musicians born and raised in the Sahara desert sand. Their repertoire is inspired by traditional Saharian songs, sung in Hassania and Tamasheq. The artists like working with new influences that mark the evolution of Sahara music. This genre is also known as Desert Blues, combining traditional instruments with Western ones in a uniquely rhythmic manner.Together with several other musicians, Generation Taragalte forms the Cultural Caravan for Peace. This working network is the embodiment of a vision promoting cultural diversity, peace, tolerance and social cohesion among the peoples of the Sahel and Sahara.

Joudour Sahara drives the preservation and revitalization of traditional Saharan cultural heritage Saharan cultural heritage, to support local youth, including equal participation of girls, while also leading local ecological conservation and anti-desertification efforts. By creating a space that provides youth with both music education and sustainable construction and farming practices, the school acts as a local model for reviving the oasis ecosystem and combatting desertification. Most importantly, the school will provide opportunities to currently unengaged community members.
