Environmental Scientist
CurrentPhase I/II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs)• Field Scientist Conducted Phase I ESAs involving collection/review of historical records, as well as site reconnaissance for schools, commercial and light industrial properties in northern BC. Conducted site visits and interviews. Prepared reports and conducted document reviews including: aerial photographs, title searches, fire insurance map reviews and water well map reviews. Conducted fieldwork for Phase II ESAs for service stations, former transportation yards, a refinery, and other industrial and commercial properties. Technical experience includes: soil classification, borehole logging and collecting soil, sediment, groundwater, drinking water, and soil vapour samples using a variety of sampling media; shallow sub-surface soil vapour investigations; and monitoring of groundwater elevations using manual measurements and automated dataloggers.Conducted field work involving the installation of soil vapour probes to facilitate the assessment of potential contaminants of concern at various sites. • Technical reportingCompleted reports for both Phase I & II projects on primarily industrial and commercial properties. Remediation• Field ScientistConducted research on remediation options involving application of industry waste streams in remediation of hydrocarbon impacted soil. Conducted ex-situ remediation in projects addressing hydrocarbon impacts on stockpiled soil. Excavation experience consists of removing hydrocarbon impacted soil due to use of above-ground storage tanks. Other responsibilities include soil stockpile sampling, planning and supervising aeration events and reporting.Extraction of groundwater and product mixture from a decommissioned service station; utilizing passive skimmers to collect product, extraction of impacted groundwater via hydro-vac truck, and pre and post-monitoring of LNAPL levels.Monitoring and extraction of product and impacted groundwater in deep aquifer wells.
