I am a technical author and illustrator, based in the UK, with over 25 years of experience producing product documentation for manufacturing companies.As well as technical writing, my expertise includes creating technical illustrations from CAD drawings using SolidWorks and Adobe packages such as Illustrator and Photoshop. Creating and rendering 3D images of industrial products for web sites and product documents is a speciality and a passion. Another variety of my work is confidential proofreading and editing for international students writing their PhD thesis and struggling with the English language. Currently, I am getting immersed in the world of industrial and commercial bakery equipment that includes small and large multi-tray ovens, confectionary depositors, sheet cutters, doughnut fryers, and bread-making plants (provers, moulders and rounders). With my help, the product documents are gradually being converted from Microsoft Word to Structured FrameMaker (DITA 1.3) and given a new professional look and feel.For the previous 12+ years, I worked as a contractor for Emerson Automation Solutions and had the privilege of owning all the product data sheets and manuals for Rosemount and Mobrey branded level measurement products manufactured by Rosemount Measurement Limited in Slough, UK. My wide variety of knowledge includes liquid/gas/solids level and flow measurement instrumentation and steam/water detection systems used worldwide.Signature qualities are self-motivation, easy-to-approach, flexible, and always delivering to timescales even for the most demanding and complex projects. Quickly adapting to new technologies and publishing packages, studying in-depth about new products, and unafraid to offer solutions when complications arise is a given.On a more personal note, I am currently leading an ambitious project in Swansea to rebuild a 50-year old church Vestry and incorporate a luxury coffee shop. Profits from this social enterprise are to be given by the church to local projects and organisations. Inspiration for all this unexpectedly came from watching one YouTube video about a church in America that opened a coffee shop to be a community hub. With my concept designs completed and everyone at the church onboard (no mean feat!), discussions with Architects and fundraising activities are on-going. The aim is to get planning permission in late 2021 and then seek substantial sponsorship to raise the £250,000 needed.
