The project where I involved in, is related to microalgae production and their industrial application, along with their integration with biogas production in a biorefinery concept. Moreover my duty are:Develop the algae pilot plant, standardize operating procedures, optimize yield, improve productivity and safeguard the algae strains. Moreover I work closely to International and national fund-raising trough scientific project or private fund.

During my Ph.D. I used a multidisciplinary approach to investigate the potential of microalgae to produce biodiesel and co-product, in particular the work could be divided in tree steps :1) screening and identification through molecular-biology analysis of different strains in order to optimize the growth in photobioreactor, in collaboration with the spin-off Algares http://www.algares.it/2) optimizing downstream treatment of algal biomass, with particular emphasis on oil extraction method such as Soxhlet and Supercritical fluid extraction and analyze the methyl esters through GS-MS 3) Collect and organize data in a custom design database “MiDa” microalgae database and provide a GUI to facilitate data entry working on LAMPP (SQL, Apache, PHP and Perl, framework ).
