The IDB Development Speakers Toastmasters Club is dedicated to fostering excellent communication, public speaking and leadership skills through feedback and practice in a fun and supportive environment. We are a club sponsored by the Inter-American Development Bank Staff Association and devoted to the methodology of Toastmasters International. Hone your presentation skills with us! We meet every other Thursday from 1-2 PM through video conferencing (Zoom platform). The club is open to all interested parties, including persons not hired by the IDB. If you would like to attend one of our sessions, contact us for more information: idbspeakers@gmail.comABOUT OUR SESSIONS: The meeting is run by the Toastmaster of the Day. After welcoming members and guests, the session is kicked off by an inspirational thought. The General Evaluator introduces his/her team, including the Grammarian who announces the word of the day. Immediately, three prepared speeches are delivered following the requirements of the project from the Toastmasters methodology. After the main body of the session, arrives Table Topics: an extemporaneous speaking exercise. A Table Topics Master presents the topic and calls on a member or guest, who has two minutes to respond. Close to the end of the meeting, we have the evaluation session headed by the General Evaluator, who calls on evaluators to give a two minute evaluation of the previous speeches, including the Table Topics. After that, the Grammarian and Timekeeper deliver their reports, and the General Evaluator gives feedback to the Toastmasters of the Day about how the entire session was run. Last but not least, the Toastmasters of the Day concludes the meeting with some remarks, giving also the word to the President of the Club.
