Dr. J. Michael Cobb has over thirty-five years of international experience working with national, regional, international and local levels of government and with the private sector in a variety of roles; including strategic planning; project development; public-private finance; international marketing/business development; urban and architectural design; waterfront, coastal and environmental planning; and in management implementation of urban and infrastructure development projects. His work has included projects and programs in California, Colorado, New York State, Jordan, Venezuela, Indonesia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt, South Korea, the Dominican Republic, Uganda , South Africa and other countries. His work has included urban climate adaptation and resiliency planning, large-scale housing and urban redevelopment and capital city expansion projects, special economic zones, national reconstruction planning, marine spatial planning, coastal zone green-ecological developments infrastructure planning and urban design projects; airports and railways; new communities; eco-tourism and green infrastructure developments; and integrated urban-industrial development projects and programs.He directed the master planning, urban design and implementation program for Jubail New Industrial City, the award winning mega project in Saudi Arabia and had a leading role in organizing, project development and initial operations of the Aqaba Development Corporation, the public-private implementation arm of Jordan's highly successful Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority.Dr. Cobb's other experience includes: public sector engagements, business development, project management and coordination with the highest levels of governments and industry. Author of numerous technical reports and publications, Dr. Cobb has also been a guest speaker at numerous conferences and universities in the U.S. and abroad. He founded IDC International Development Consultants and previously was an executive with several major companies: Bechtel Corporation (Chief of Urban & Infrastructure Planning, global operations); Planning Research Corporation (Vice Pres.); & EDAW (Director Urban Planning & Design). His career responsible involved planning, urban ecological design, A-E design, financing & development implementation of projects & programs with constructed values of 30+ billion USD.
