As Nursing Manager / Research Coordinator, I managed and coordinated the research activities of the Centre approved study protocols on TB and HIV; planned and assisted with scheduling and execution of clinical research activities at the site, including study visits. I recruited and screened subjects using protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria, managed patient recruitment database and worked collaboratively to monitor and ensure successful protocol operations. I ensured quality control, managed, and collected questionnaires from patients, respondents and completed teamwork questionnaire at both study and local sites. Observation of patient care teams, and the monitoring and implementation of the consent process was crucial. In preparation for scientific works for presentation at local and national meetings I analysed and prepared data for publication in medical and scientific periodicals. This enabled me to produce and deliver relevant program status reports to the Department, Institution, Regulatory Agencies, Sponsors and Program leadership.

As ICU Trainer Registered Nurse, I managed admissions by ensuring patients were admitted to the most appropriate bed available using existing admission criteria by following protocols for direct acceptance of specific patient population, which included Code Blue team. Within this role I provided total, comprehensive, continuous patient centred care which included assessing, documenting, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care. With complex clinical assessments, I provided care to persons in various states of pain, trauma and tragedy and ensured adherence to Netcare policies and procedures as well as State and local Regulations. Within this role I coached and trained staff and students; prepared duty rosters, delegated duties and monitored the performance of Nursing Care Technicians. I was able to work collaboratively with nursing staff and the team of physicians, and provided medications, specific diagnostic testing, and therapies for acutely ill patients as per the instructions of the attending Doctor. I provided support to the patient and family by delivering health education to assisted patients and families in order to better understand the situation.
