This period of experience enables me to facilitate more clients with project finance demand, and share my finance skillset with entrepreneurs who endeavour to bring their financial capacity to a new level. During 2017-2020, outbound investment from China to all over the world was incredibly active. Also Chinese entrepreneurs in Australia was asking for project development through deeper understanding of financial vehicles. Aiming to help them and fill this gap, I assists all sorts of Chinese clients and built constructive network with local communities. Landmark cases include frontier fund raising for an Victoria-based biotechnology group, developing projects together with QIC in the field of infrastructure, commercial property projects development with some local developers, banking digital system research with a Shenzhen-based fintech group, and agriculture projects with a New Zealand listco.

China

SunEdison was a US honored renewable energy group, and Terraform was one of the innovative listcos powered by SunEdison. I took care of M&A business supported by this US listco funding, developed Oceania market including Australia and New Zealand, leading several M&A projects and market research program for inbound investment and project finance. During this period of experience, my team successfully closed an acquisition deal of a wind farm valued over $150m.It was a deep dive to the innovative financial model called yieldco in the secondary market leveraging fundamental merger and acquisition. And it was a very successful application from real estate to renewable energy field. Working with professionals always inspire me with more food for thoughts.

During the China outbound investment tide, Sunshine was one of the stars. I took care of several cross-border acquisition deals, splendid landmark assets in gateway cities in Australia and US, totalling over US$700m. And all closed with an happy end, running well till today. It was a fun and highly efficient experience working with a whole team across countries, including but not limited to JJL, CBRE, Starwood, and PwC US. Those professionals dedicated spirit inspired me most, worth all the perspiration and persistence during this period of time. Culture gap was a challenge but also an area we could handle with sufficient understanding and swapping of our perspectives, and I'm proud to see myself grow and witness the growth of all the people working with me.
