I am a final year Economics and Finance student at the University of Exeter with industrial experience in the multi-manager fund management team at Hargreaves Lansdown.On my placement, I worked with both single asset and multi-asset funds, targeting various markets and levels of volatility. My role had me involved in both tactical and strategic asset allocation discussions, as well as manager selection and portfolio construction processes, which have greatly improved my analytical skills and broader understanding of the industry. Moreover, the client centric culture of the company taught me a great deal about tailoring financial solutions in the best interest of clients.Alongside my placement I self-funded my studies towards the CFA level 1 exam, which I successfully cleared on my first attempt, scoring in the 90th percentile at the age of 21. I also completed the CFA Institute’s practical skills module in financial modelling, where I built a three-statement financial model and learned best practices for modelling in Excel through an instructional video series.Throughout my academic career I have attained strong grades both at university and at school, achieving results in my first and second years of university that put me on track to achieve a First Class Honours. I am especially proud of these results as they were achieved whilst committing a significant amount of time to extracurricular activities such as part-time work, volunteering and training as a high-level athlete.I attribute my success in academia and early career to my analytical and time management skills, that in tandem with my work ethic allow me to succeed in whatever field I commit myself to.
