Re-usable cups and bags, deposit system for all sorts of drinks were presented during the biggest sailing event in Nida. City municipality, local businesses and various NGOs were brought together in order to cut down on single use plastic and present the substitutes for an every day use products.This initiative gained a lot of attention and has been growing since.More initiatives, partners and events will be announced soon. It brought together 50… Show more "Open books" is a non-governmental organisation that was established for the purpose of organizing a literary festival in Vilnius.The idea of "Open books" is to bring together the best Lithuanian authors and present their recent works to a public as well as ensure the possibility of eye-to-eye contact between the author and the reader.First literary festival "Open books" took place on the 23rd of September at the National Gallery of Arts in Vilnius. It brought together 50 selected authors with their most recent books. "The Gallery of Authors" was the main venue at the festival. "Open books" also presented 4 discussions about the importance of criticism, the way that a book can be presented in a theatre play or cinema, the importance of the books in the presenting the social issues and the existence of humour level in the lithuanian society.There also have been readings, music performances, meetings with authors from abroad, art book exhibition and literary dinner.Literary festival "Open books" gathered more that 400 visitors and it is eager to grow and expend.The next festival will take place in the autumn of 2020, the exact date will be announced soon.
