In this role I provide 1:1 English tutoring sessions to students with SEMH and SEND needs and EHCP plans. These students are out of education for various reasons and require specialist skills and knowledge to re-engage them in education and eradicate barriers to learning. I use my pedagogical approach which is steeped in child-centred learning to develop confidence and self-esteem which creates the foundation for academic learning. I then inspire students to engage with ideas, knowledge, reading and writing to nurture a love for English. Additionally, I ensure students can develop their emotional intelligence and social skills. I ensure that students feel valued and recognised for their talents and nurture their aspirations through a supportive learning environment.

Delivering GCSE and A-Level English Language and Literature lessons to a range of students (11-18) online.I have excellent skills in ensuring students achieve the grades they desire. My lessons involve quizzes, games, analysis of texts, writing tasks, and spoken activities, each adapted to the age and ability of the student. I assist students to develop their vocabulary by exposing them to a wide range of challenging texts. I enable students to understand mark-schemes and exam requirements by providing them with exemplar answers and breaking down exam questions. I use key teaching skills such as modelling, differentiation, embedding wider curriculum, relating to real-life scenarios, scaffolding, sequencing and many others.I help students to develop study skills, structure their writing and bring clarity to their understanding of language and literature.I am also excellent at cultivating study skills including time management and organisational skills.Students and parents have both given me excellent feedback, reporting increases in both grades and subject engagement.

In this role I was responsible for teaching students (11-18) with SEMH needs. I also undertook a leadership position. My duties included: Identifying and removing barriers to learning through building rapport, understandinglearning styles and adapting lessons to suit the needs of the learners. Designing schemes of work and curriculum for: English NCFE Functional Skills, English GCSELanguage and Literature and ESOL. Designing, implementing, and training other staff on the ‘Reading Development Plan’ for theschool. Designing and implementing a broad curriculum suited to the individual needs of thelearners. Ensuring students make progress through regular formative and summative assessments. Ensuring students receive effective feedback which they can understand and use to furthertheir progress. Tracking and recording assessments, exams, and progress.
