Dr. Md Iftekher Iqbal, one of the young glaucoma specialists from Bangladesh, is currently working as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Glaucoma Department of Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital, Bangladesh.After graduation, he did his post-graduation (Master in Surgery, MS) in Ophthalmology from one of the country's oldest and most renowned medical universities, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).Later, he finished his medical and surgical fellowship in glaucoma at the country’s state-of-the-art subspecialized training institute, Ispahani Islamia Eye Institute and Hospital, Bangladesh.He has extensive surgical experience in managing complicated cases, mainly glaucoma and cataract-related, as well as with glaucoma drainage devices, pediatric glaucoma surgery, and different laser procedures (LPI, SLT, Cyclophotocoagulation mainly).He is also actively involved with teaching and mentoring in short-term and long-term fellowship programs for cataract (both MSICS and Phaco) and glaucoma running by his institute.He is passionate about clinical research and presented a few of his works nationally and internationally, including at the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) and European Society of Ophthalmology (SOE) congresses.As part of the community works, he provides surgical help to the country's rural areas to reduce the cataract backlog.Apart from these, he enjoys his leisure with writing, photography, music, and traveling with family and friends.
